They Wish They Were Us follows the story of Jill Newman in her senior year of high school. Jill lives in Gold Coast, Long Island, and is a Player, a notorious group in her high school that rules the school. Since she’s a Player, her life is supposed to be perfect, but it’s not. Her worldview changed one fateful night freshman year when her friend, another Player, died. Shaila Arnold was killed by her boyfriend, Graham. Graham had confessed that night, and the case was closed. Yet, something keeps nagging at Jill, and she can’t let it go, not even three years later.
