The People We Keep is a book that discovers a girl’s redefinition of the word family. Not feeling worthy of love tears apart 16 year old April. She never saw a future for herself being a school dropout and working shifts at a restaurant. In this new town she has to navigate through this all by herself as there is no one at home to guide her. Throughout all her new experiences with new people in new places she finds out who is truly there for her.
