Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley

This true-crime suspense novel leaves the reader on the edge of their seat while also accurately depicting Ojibwe culture. Daunis Fontaine is the main character of the story. Daunis has never really fit in, whether on the reservation or in her hometown. However, that’s not even close to being her biggest problem. It may actually help her when Daunis becomes part of an FBI investigation about a hallucinogenic form of meth that has torn apart her community. The thing is, Daunis knows this could hurt her community too. She knows she must help the FBI even when she realizes the deeper she gets into the investigation, the more dangerous it becomes. Once Daunis has made this vow to herself and her community, she knows there is no turning back, even if it hurts her.
