One Piece, a Manga series, tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who ate a gum-gum fruit which transformed his entire body into rubber, making it easy for him to avoid the Navy and pirates’ attacks, as well as attack back. The book centers around Luffy looking for members for the pirate crew he is forming. Along the way he recruits Zoro (referred to as Zolo in the American books for copyright reasons), an ex-pirate hunter, and Nami, an ex-pirate hater and thief. Together they form the straw-hats. The book is filled with incredibly expressive drawings, notes from the author, and coloring pages (which you can photocopy since it is a library book). A very fun book that is worth the read, as well as to watch since it is also an animated series.
