Right Behind You

Title: Right Behind You

Author: Gail Giles

Summary:

On the afternoon of his seventh birthday, I set Bobby Clarke on fire.
I was nine.
It was all about Bobby’s birthday present.
A baseball glove.

So begins Gail Giles’ intimate examination of young man dealing with the knowledge that as a child he committed an inhuman act.  An act that follows him, regardless the places he moves or the new name he assumes.  In this quick, intense read Giles challenges us to go beyond our abhorrence of a monstrous act to understand the person who committed it.

Who will like this book?  Quick pace and intense plot line make this a great book for reluctant readers.  Also a good read for those who like to get in the mind of characters experiencing intense internal upheaval.

If you like this, try this:  Other books by Gail Giles including What Happened to Cass McBride and Shattering Glass.  Also try, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and Ellen Hopkins’ Crank.
