Playing with Fire by April Henry

While trying to impress her crush, Natalia ends up hiking with him and a group. She’s reluctant to join since she doesn’t like hiking or the rest of the group. The sunny and hot day soon turns out to be too much when a forest fire begins, blocking off the path the group was supposed to take. Everyone is now forced to work together, while Natalia works to provide medical care for people, all while they are being chased. Chased by the fire, chased by nature, and chased by a criminal. Natalia has fears outside of the fire too, and they occupy her mind, taking up real estate in her head, that the other more imminent issues are also trying to take. Playing with Fire gets to the fiery moments very quickly, and it does not let that fire go out. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever done something out of their comfort zone for a friend, or even a crush.
