We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal

**** This review is for the sequel to We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal, beware of spoilers! ****

In normal, everyday life, we fight tons of internal and external battles with ourselves and our inner circle. However, Altair, Xafira, Nasir, and Kifah have lost a physical and brutal battle on Sharr. The dark forest has fallen. Altair is captive, however the rest of his friends are ready to move onto the next challenge. They are low on resources, so they know the fight is going to be intense. Not only are they fighting for the Sisters of Old and their families alike, they are fighting internal battles. Nasir is struggling to command the magic in his blood, while Zafira struggles with internal voices that push her to the brink of sanity. We Free the Stars is an intense and emotional fantasy novel that touches on the struggle of experiencing physical conflict, such as war, while also experiencing internal conflict. Although this novel can get overwhelming and feel like it might never end, the characters always seem to find a way out. This novel is a perfect read for someone who enjoys an intense and mind blowing story that requires attentive reading.
