Condie illustrates a narrative about a girl named July, finding herself in a empty town one morning. Her small town, once filled with people, is now empty, except her, as she learns to be independent, and face her fears. Condie is able to tell a story about dealing with isolation, and loneliness, while also weaving in a mystery. The novel is filled with suspense, turmoil, despair, and learning, as the plot is pushed forward by an interesting protagonist. A unique story, with a vivid storyteller, it ropes in the reader to continue and find out more about the mystery.
