Library of Things

The Fairfield Public Library’s Library of Things (LoT) is an innovative collection of non-traditional items designed to expand our mission of providing patrons with access to high-quality resources and services that support their educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs. Items range from lawn games and nets for your next party to metal detectors and stud finders for your next home improvement project. Coming soon: Sewing machines, bike pumps, and more!

As of May 2026, only lawn games are currently available, but please check back in the coming months as we add more items to our collection.

Find this collection by the Information Desk at the Main Library. To check out any item in the Lawn Games, Tools, and Art & Crafts collection, a valid, current, adult Connecticut public library card is required and a waiver must be signed, which will be in effect through the expiration date of your library card. Waivers are available at the library to sign.

Board games and jigsaw puzzles are an established and popular part of our LoT Collection, and are available at both Main Library and Fairfield Woods Branch Library. A waiver is not required to check out board games and puzzles.

• LoT items are available on a walk-in basis only. If you call and the item you’re looking for is available, we can set it aside for you for up to one hour.
• No renewals on any Library of Things items. 
• Jigsaw puzzles & board games: These items circulate for 14 days with a $1 fine per late day.
  Lawn games, Arts and Crafts, Tools: These items circulate for 7 days with a $1 fine per late day.
• Up to two items per category (Lawn Games, Tools, Arts & Crafts, & Jigsaw Puzzles and Board Games) may be checked out at a time.
• Items must be returned inside the building and handed to a staff member at the Information Desk (unless otherwise marked), not inside a book or video drop. 
• Missing, broken, or damaged pieces or parts may result in a replacement fee.
• Items may take up to two days to cleared from your account while staff check and verify all components.
