Children’s Summer Challenge
Level up at the library! What is your favorite way to play? Do you play outdoor games, board games, card games, video games? This summer you can play them all! Join our mascot Scout the Fox for a summer full of reading, playing, and gaming. How will you level up this summer?
Read, write book reviews, attend events, and complete bonus activities to earn points and reach your goal! Use our Beanstack reading tracker to log your progress. Check the Badges area in your account to see point goals, bonus activities, and ways to stay engaged all summer. Each virtual badge you earn unlocks tickets for the Grand Prizes. When you unlock a points badge, visit the library to add it to your board game tracker on the wall!
Prizes for point badges along the way include brag tags, a free book, a lawn sign, and if you reach the bonus 1,500 points level… a magical dragon plushie! Questions or concerns, please e-mail childrens-library@fplct.org.
*Events, activities, and raffles end on August 9th. Grand Prizes are drawn by August 14th. Keep logging your minutes online until August 26th to earn points for your school!

Visit your Beanstack account to register for the Challenge starting on May 19, 2025. Families with kids entering grade 5 and younger share one login. Grown-ups, be sure to add yourselves as Readers to join the Adult Summer Challenge fun!

Earn points by tracking your participation to unlock badges and prizes! *Hint: When you read as a family, you can select all family members on your account at once to log your minutes together for all ages!

Read anything, anywhere, any time! Every minute you read this summer, you earn 1 point for the Challenge. Write a review when you finish your book to earn tickets towards our Grand Prizes!

Activities!
Make the Summer Challenge your own by completing bonus activities along with your reading. Our weekly activities allow you to mix fun and games WITH reading as you work toward your 1,000-point goal. Visit the library each week for new themed fun—see the image above for all the activities. After each activity, enter the secret code in your Beanstack badge to earn 5 to 25 bonus points!

Events!
Attend one of our many events for babies through grade 5 and earn 25 bonus points! Special events include our Reading Dragons tournaments, DIY kits available every Saturday, early literacy classes, and weekly afternoon classes. Many events require registration, which opens 2 weeks in advance of the event date.
