We have a summer full of fun for all ages!


Build a Better World at the Fairfield Public Library

Grades K-5, register here.
Children not yet in school, ages 0-5: register here.

Are you prepared for the challenge? Of course, you are! All you have to do is read some great books and visit the Library for some extra fun during the “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Program. Once school is out, the games, raffles and summer activities start.

Summer Reading KickOff Party!

Join your favorite librarians at the new Penfield Beach Pavilion to kickoff this year’s Summer
Reading Program: “Build a Better World.” Drop by for some fun on your first day of summer vacation! (Rain date: June 22)

Register for Summer Reading to get inked with a temporary tattoo, receive your first prize, compete in our sandcastle building competition and other games on the beach!
This event is geared for grades K-5. Registration for the event is not required. Giveaways are while supplies last.

Note: A Penfield Beach Sticker is required to park.

Teen Summer Challenge

School is almost out, and it is time to get ready for the annual Teen Summer Challenge. The Challenge is not just about reading, it is about discovering, creating, doing and volunteering. Register online at and set up an account. Starting June 15, you can begin logging points by reading, watching movies, sharing recipes, creative writing, volunteering and creating art.

Books, Sunshine, and Prizes!

Join us for 5 weeks of Adult Summer Reading fun.

We want to know: what is the best book you’ve read this summer? Fill out a raffle ticket and drop it off to the circulation desk at the Main Library to be entered into a raffle to win a bag full of donated books. Each bag will contain at least one book signed by its author!
