Parents Without Partners provides single parents and their children with an opportunity for enhancing personal growth, self-confidence and sensitivity towards others by offering an environment for support, friendship and the exchange of parenting techniques.

Fairfield County PWP consists of a group of single parents that share common objectives, goals and issues. There are typically at least a couple of events a week, both family (adults plus kids) and adult-only. Some examples of events are: bowling, hiking, swimming, theatre, restaurants, concerts, arts & crafts, softball, biking, dancing, camping, rafting, discussion groups, karaoke, bridge and trivia.

Penfield is one of 450 squadrons which form the United States Power Squadrons (USPS).

USPS is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-military organization of men and women who are socially compatible and have a common love and appreciation of recreational boating.

We teach the Public Boating Course for the general public twice a year (the course teaches basic boating skills and qualifies you for the Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate).

We run more advanced courses for members, covering topics as diverse as Engine Maintenance, Principles of Sail and Celestial Navigation.

Our social activities include cruises, an annual clambake at Penfield Beach, and potluck dinners at one of the local yacht clubs.

Description of Organization and Activities: The following description was entered in July, 2004:

Rotary is an international organization of caring professionals and bushiness people who are dedicated to providing service and assistance to their communities and to people across the world. Rotarians are asked to subscribe to the motto "Service Above Self" and to Rotary's "4-Way Test" of ethical business and personal relationships. Fairfield Rotarians conduct various fund raising activities in support of the Fairfield Rotary Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, which promotes peace, health, learning and civic improvement in the local community, region and throughout the world. Fairfield Rotary also produces and supports Follies -- a annual Broadway-type review comprised of talented students from urban and suburban high schools in order to build bridges between diverse communities and to nurture their appreciation of the performing arts.
