Read anything you’d like, but if you need some suggestions, check out our Summer Reading Lists. When you record what you’ve read you earn prizes and chances for our weekly raffles. You can earn raffle tickets by reading, visiting the Library, attending fun events and participating in challenges like our weekly Gnome Hunt. Join us at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.

For prizes read 5 books or 500 pages and get your name on our “Wall of Fame”; 10 books or 1,000 pages and win a seed packet and a Dig into Reading tattoo; 15 books or 1,500 pages, a pencil and eraser; 20 books or 2,000 pages, scratch art; and 25 books or 2,500 pages, a ticket to a Bluefish baseball game, certificate of completion and your name honored in a Library book! Weekly raffle prizes include autographed copies of books (like Wonder and A Tale Dark & Grimm) and gift certificates to 16 Handles, The Sportsplex, Dairy Queen, Target and many more.

Fun events this summer include special story times and Friday afternoon movies, learning how to download e-books on your devices, family dance parties, Science Tellers, ice cream making, animal visits, and more.

Summer Reading Finale!

Summer reading will end on a bubbly note when Casey Carle’s Bubblemania! visits on August 8 with comedy, music and the unbelievable magic of bubbles. We will meet at the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Auditorium that day to accommodate as many children (ages 5-10) as possible. Registration is required for this event. It’s going to be a great summer, can you dig it?

Countdown to Kindergarten
Excited about starting kindergarten in the fall? Join us for a fun-filled program of stories, rhymes and crafts designed for children preparing for kindergarten. We will meet in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library at 2:00 pm on Wednesdays, July 3 through August 7. Class size is limited to 15. Registration is required and is for all six classes.

DIGital DaysDigital Scrapbooking! – Bring in a flash drive with 10-15 of your favorite photos and learn how to create a digital scrapbook you can print or email to share, Tuesday, July 30, 3:30 pm.  Registration is required.

Dynamic Diggers: Dig into a new theme each week — arts, crafts, games and stories for children entering grades 1-2.  Thursday, August 1 at 3:00pm: Bugs!  Registration is required.

The following summer story times do not require registration, but due to limited space, tickets will be handed out to the first 20 children on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Libraries are an oasis in the summer, drop in with your child for a cool diversion.

Book Babies: Songs, music books and social play for babies, ages 0-18 months. Meets Fridays, July 5- August 9, 10:30 am.
Toddler Time: Songs, nursery rhymes, books and activities for children ages 18-36 months. Meets Tuesdays, July 2-August 6, 10:30 am.
Stories Alive for 3’s, 4’s and 5’s: Stories, songs and activities for children 3-5 years old. Meets Wednesdays, July 3-August 7, 10:30 am.

Join us at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road for:

Lunch Bunch:  Families with children in grades K-5 are invited to bring lunch to the Library and enjoy a story and craft.  Meets Wednesdays, July 10-August 7, 11:00 am.

Feathers, Furs and Scales:  Children entering grades K-2 explore natural science with the Connecticut Audubon Society.  Meets Mondays, July 8-August 5, 3:30 pm.

Calling All Woodsies!: Stories, songs and activities for children 3-5 years old. Meets Tuesdays, July 2-August 6, 2:00 pm.
