Director: Christine Markovits
Christine came to Community Nursery School as Executive Director in 2007. Prior to this, she was a Director and a preschool teacher for fifteen years. Christine earned a B.F.A. in art education and jewelry design/construction, but quickly realized that her passion is early childhood education. Christine returned for further education and holds certifications in Early Childhood Education and Leadership as well as a Connecticut Directors Credential. Christine has served on the northwest Accreditation Facilitation Project and received a citation from the State of Connecticut General Assembly in recognition of her achievements in the field of early childhood education. One of Christine's first accomplishments was guiding us through the reaccreditation process of the NAEYC. Community Nursery School was among a select few schools in Connecticut to achieve reaccreditation under the new rigorous system. Christine's vast knowledge of all aspects of early childhood education and her personal standards of excellence have made her an invaluable asset to Community Nursery School.

|Teddy Bear Corner provides a positive, home- like atmosphere where the principles of early childhood education are used to create age appropriate activities that reinforce a child’s natural curiosity and allow them to experience challenges and achievements, while bolstering his or her self-confidence. We believe that the best way for young children to learn is through play and exploration. Teachers coordinate a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the interests and needs of the children as well as the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards while using “hands-on” activities and play to introduce the children to science, math, art, language, cooking, sensory, water play, music and movement.||July 2015|
