Craft Salon

craft-salonAre you interested in sewing and knitting, printing, traditional crafts and the new DIY (do it yourself), as well as vintage-inspired design, and all things handmade.  Then join us at the SALON.  We’ll dive in to different types of unique crafts and whet our curiosity a little.  The library will provide the colorful papers, fabrics and other embellishments, we may need, as well as great books from our collection you can check out and pursue further. You’ll be inspired by our sessions and tap into the curious crafter in us all.

Craft Salon Events for 2014
 – all dates are Saturdays; 11am -1 pm; supplies provided

February 1: Accordian Book - Join us and make a collage-covered accordion book with ribbon ties.  Our presenter is Stephanie Peterson Jones, a working artist who teaches in various settings, including Fairfield Public Schools.

March 1: Charity Craft - Come and get crafty for charity with Alexandra Currie.  We will work on a project that will support cancer survivors.

April 5: Felt Bead-Making - Join us and learn to do something new and fun!  Felt beads can be strung into simple pieces of jewelry on their own or mixed in with other beads from your stash.  Presenter Michelle Lieberson is a talented quilter, knitter, and all-around crafty person.

May 3:  Embroidered Bookmarks - Don’t miss this session!  Our guest will be Jessica Pigza of the New York Public Library, where she runs Crafternoon.  She just published her first book, Bibliocraft: A Modern Crafter’s Guide to Using Library Resources to Jumpstart Creative Projects.  We like the sound of that!
