Jane Eyre??

What is Heidi Reading? is dedicated to what our littlest worker (my 5-month-old daughter) is reading at home.

Heidi Jane Eyre

I thought my mom was crazy when she pulled out this classic… Jane EyreBORING!! But, I was wrong. I loved it! I loved counting out the 4 towers at Thornfield Hall. And, seeing the 8 drawings; it’s just so nice to be able to put a face to Mr. Rochester. Maybe one day I’ll grow up to be a governess just like Ms. Eyre. Until then, I’ll keep reading these abridged classics. ~Heidi S.

There are a few different “classics” included in The BabyLit series. Advertised as old-fashioned primers, these board books take a very simplistic view of some of the most famous works of fiction. Here is a sampling of some titles:

Sense and Sensibility: An Opposites Primer
Moby Dick: An Ocean Primer
Romeo and Juliet: A Counting Primer
Pride and Prejudice: A Counting Primer
Wuthering Heights: A Weather Primer

Now, here’s a moment of truth… I just read Jane Eyre (the real version, that is) earlier this year. And, I loved it. ~Ms. Mary

Don’t forget to check out ALSC’s Every Child Ready to Read for more information on the importance of early literacy.
